Characters: Damon
doctorsfanboy and Jamie McCrimmon
bonnypiperlad
Location: Damon's quarters on Gallifrey/Two's console room
Time: After Damon's post, and Jamie's log with Oliver
Summary: Damon gets to see the Doctor's TARDIS, but it's not the one he's expecting...
Warnings: Extreme adorableness?
Initially, Damon wasn't remotely aware that there was anything wrong or out of place in his quarters. He was so tired he didn't notice much of anything at all, except his bed. So he slept (albeit restlessly), for three or four hours. When he finally woke up, however, he noticed something odd. And he wondered if he was still asleep, because he really shouldn't be able to access a TARDIS console room from his bedroom, but that seemed to be the case.
He stepped into his open closet, glancing around curiously. "...Doctor?" Perhaps their universes had finally merged. Granted, it didn't look like the Fifth Doctor's console room, but the one on the Plane was an alternate version.

However, what he believed was going to take a few minutes to find had taken him the better part of the afternoon. Finally, he came across the whatever-it-was, tucked into a small box that was - for some inexplicable reason - labeled 'Hamdingers'.
He wandered into the console room, holding up a small, see-through device. Tiny, delicate wires were knit together inside, looking rather like a small electronic spiderweb, with nearly microscopic silver dots forming more solid junctions. "Doctor? I found the part ye wanted me to fetch..." He trailed off as he saw a person standing there that wasn't the Time Lord that should be in the console room. He rubbed at his eyes for a moment with his free hand, wondering if he was seeing things.
When he lowered his hand, nothing had changed. If he hadn't already been through this with Oliver, he might have been more surprised. As it was, Jamie sighed and said, "I don't suppose you've seen the Doctor, then?"

"I'm sorry, I haven't seen him. It is good to see you again, though," he offered, almost shyly. He wasn't expecting anyone other than the Doctor to get close enough to him for this, but it was a pleasant surprise.

"Aye, I think so. Considering we've been traveling for the past few hours at least..." He glances over at the central column. It had been moving when he left, but seems to have stopped now. Maybe that explains where the Doctor's gone off to. Jamie looks vaguely vexed for a moment. Just like him to go wandering off without letting him know where he's going.
"Oh. Maybe we've landed, then. But I don't think we were supposed to go anywhere near...er, where are ye at the moment?"
no subject
"Have you had a merger before, Jamie?" he asked curiously.
no subject
"I think so," he replies to the question, sounding a little bit uncertain. "At least, Oliver said it was likely that's what happened when I ran across him in Scotland. Well, he wasn't in Scotland, but I still saw him."
The idea did somewhat make sense - once it was explained to him. And there really wasn't anything else that fit, so he was willing to go along with the concept. It occurs to Jamie then that Damon may be someone who might know a little bit more about mergers. Even if he doesn't, it surely wouldn't hurt to ask.
"Do ye know about how the mergers work, Damon?"
no subject
"I'm glad the entrance to the TARDIS is in my quarters, it's much easier to hide than the mess in the computer room," Damon added wearily.

A sympathetic look appears on Jamie's face, however, at the mention of the computer room. Poor Damon. "It's still there? Have ye found a way yet to explain it to Commander Maxil, or is he still threatening to arrest ye every five minutes?"
Privately, Jamie almost wishes he could actually meet Commander Maxil. Not in here, as that would cause too many problems for Damon, but somewhere where he could have a few wee "words" with the man. Even if he got himself arrested afterwords, it would be worth it.
He doesn't say this out loud, of course. But the expression on his face might give some of that thought process away, if Damon happens to be looking at Jamie at the moment.

Personally, he thinks this is an excellent idea, and simple enough that it should work. If nothing else, it would buy Damon some time to come up with another solution. "If you've got paperwork showing that there's a problem, that'll surely keep Commander Maxil off your back. He can't argue with procedure, now can he?"
Thinking about it a moment more, he says, "I'm not very good at that sort of thing, but I would think if ye can keep coming up with ideas of things that are wrong with the renovations, ye could probably keep that sort of thing tied up like that for months, or even years."
no subject
"That's actually a very good idea, Jamie." He was a bit surprised, really, but he supposed he shouldn't be...Jamie was a companion of the Doctor's, after all. The Doctor had high standards for brilliance.

He looks a little bit sheepish when Damon mentions the paperwork being a good idea, as it's not completely an original one in this case. "Och, well," he replies, rubbing at the back of his head a moment. "I may have just been through something where the topic came up."
His ideas usually tend to be something on the simpler side, at least according to the Doctor. Sometimes, though, those work very well.
"Don't see why it wouldn't work for ye, though. It worked for the Doctor when we..." He breaks off, realizing he's dangerously close to getting into details of something he's not supposed to be talking about. "Er, never mind. Say, have ye seen this type of TARDIS before?"

However, he's nicely distracted from having to worry about that particular little conundrum by the the mention of the time rotor. Jamie looks at Damon with some surprise - and more than a little bit of interest.
"Did ye say ye put one in without a recall circuit? How did ye get away with doing that?"

He hesitates. Should he ask what he wants to? Or should he talk about it with the Doctor, first? If the Doctor's not interested, then no harm done. But...if Damon's answer is no, then there's nothing to even talk about with the Doctor. So what should Jamie do?
In the end, what decides him is simple. Damon is here. The Doctor is not. So, he decides to just go ahead and ask anyway and figure things out from there.
"Would ye do it again if ye were asked to?"
no subject
But still, he didn't want to disappoint Jamie, or the Doctor, and if there was even a chance that things would turn out alright if he changed the timeline...he sighed. "Not without asking the Doctor first. Not yours, but the alternate Fifth on the Plane, or the other one. He'll know if it's a risk worth taking."
no subject
"Aye, I suppose not," he says, somewhat disappointed. It would have been nice to not have to deal with the CIA and then they could just go do what they wanted. Get Victoria, maybe...
His thoughts are interrupted when Damon continues, and he's hopeful again for a moment - and then he's somewhat confused. "Why would the Doctors on the Plane know?" he asks, trying to puzzle it out. "Because they're later regenerations?"
no subject
As much as he yearned for the Doctor's presence on Gallifrey, it would be selfish to keep him chained there in any way, especially when he didnn't want to be.
no subject
He'll think about whether it'd be a good idea to bring it up with one of the Doctors on the plane a little later. For now, it's something he can tuck in the back of his mind and leave there for a bit.
Wandering over to where Damon had first been standing when Jamie came in, he looks at the area with interest. "Hey, do ye think this merger thing works both ways? Would I be able to go to Gallifrey from here?"
