bonnypiperlad: (So...)

Today, Jamie was pretty sure that he had been sent on what was meant to be a wild goose-chase. The Doctor had wanted him to fetch a certain part he claimed he needed as a replacement for something in the chronometer. It had been giving them trouble - or so the Doctor said. Jamie rather suspected it was more that he he been pestering the Doctor enough that the Time Lord just wanted him out of his hair for awhile. As usual, the name of the part had pretty much gone over his head, but the description was easy enough that Jamie thought he'd be able to find it quickly.

However, what he believed was going to take a few minutes to find had taken him the better part of the afternoon. Finally, he came across the whatever-it-was, tucked into a small box that was - for some inexplicable reason - labeled 'Hamdingers'.

He wandered into the console room, holding up a small, see-through device. Tiny, delicate wires were knit together inside, looking rather like a small electronic spiderweb, with nearly microscopic silver dots forming more solid junctions. "Doctor? I found the part ye wanted me to fetch..." He trailed off as he saw a person standing there that wasn't the Time Lord that should be in the console room. He rubbed at his eyes for a moment with his free hand, wondering if he was seeing things.

When he lowered his hand, nothing had changed. If he hadn't already been through this with Oliver, he might have been more surprised. As it was, Jamie sighed and said, "I don't suppose you've seen the Doctor, then?"
