Characters: Jamie, Three, and OPEN FOR WHOEVER WANTS TO JOIN IN. Oh, yeah, and some monkeys.
Location: The Library.
Time: Day 3 of the Great Monkey Caper
Summary: Happy book-hunting day!
Warnings: Really angry monkeys and things that go along with running into really angry monkeys.
Notes: Posting order: Jamie, monkey, Three. (will adjust as needed to add other people if they want in).
Jamie stood in front of the Library, looking down at the note in his hand. It was a bit worse for wear, having been half-shoved into the pocket of his sheepskin vest, and then been promptly forgotten about while he was busy trying to make his way through a swamp. He had fallen in. Needless to say, the vest was somewhere drying out back on the TARDIS, but he had retrieved the note and brought back to the Plane with him.
Reaching down, he tried to brush a off bit of dried mud that had blotted out a goodly portion of the words. All that really was legible was the part about something called 'The Physics of the Impossible', and he frowned at it, wondering what it meant. He glanced back up at the library, somewhat uneasily. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to head in alone.
"Aye, well," he said to himself. "Someone's bound to come along that will want to find that book."
If they did, well, they'd need someone to keep an eye out for things, wouldn't they? Then, maybe, he could have a go at seeing what it was.

...And she just waved.

The one in the skirt looks younger, but masculine and therefore stronger. The noisy book-stealer, on the other hand, is clearly female and weaker...and not only still talking, but gesturing as if she actually wants to be eaten.
Obviously, the monkey will just have oblige the Doctor on that score. It roars and charges straight at her.

The Doctor grabs hold of Jamie's arm now and drags him off in whatever seems like the most reasonable direction (towards the reference desk, of course). "Somehow, I saw that as working out better."

"Look, I don't know what beastie that is, but I'd wager it'd not be wanting to talk to ye on the best of days. Now, come on, let's get out of here before it catches up."
Getting to the reference desk is all well and good, but it does require them staying in one piece first.

Perhaps tearing one of them limb from limb might be in order. Or softening them up, perhaps, by pounding them into the ground. The monkey has so many options to choose from, once it catches up. At the rate of speed it's achieving, that might very well be sooner rather than later, unless something's done about it.

Perhaps it's best not to ask why it's purple. It is, however, still a very delicious banana.

With luck, there'll be something in there he can use to block the door behind them and slow the monkey down even more, and he's already half-keeping an eye out for anything that would work even as he keeps running.

There's a faint hint of an interesting smell to it, a touch of something the monkey thinks it would like to eat. So it bites down, not bothering to peel the fruit first. A few seconds later, though, the monkey is tossing the banana away in disgust. Whatever it thought it was supposed to taste like, it clearly doesn't.
It picks up speed again, going after the things it knows will taste good, but the diversion bought Jamie and the Doctor enough time that they should be able to get through the door at least.

The monkey on the either side throws itself against the door quite violently, causing it to shake - but for now, the door stays firmly shut.
Jamie adds a nearby chair for good measure, then turns to look at the Time Lord questioningly. "I don't that will hold for long, Doctor. Now what do we do?"
no subject
"We are in a library," she muses. "There has to be a book around somewhere for what to do in this sort of situation."

The door shudders again as the monkey continues to throw itself against it, and the wood of the door cracks a little. Jamie looks up at it, a little nervously, but it'll hold for a bit yet.
"Come on, Doctor, help me look."

"Right, yes, we were looking for a book, weren't we?" So difficult to keep track of things. The Doctor attacks the reference section then, with vigour. With any luck it will be... well, somewhere.

He looks over to check to see how close the monkey is to breaking through, his hand removing yet another volume from the shelf automatically. Judging from the splintering, the door has just about had it. He goes to toss the last book he's grabbed, but as he's about at to throw it, he actually remembers to glance at the call number on the spine - the one that reads 'QC75 .K18 2008'.
Hurrying over to the Doctor, he brandishes it so she can see. "Doctor! I found it!"
