(no subject)

Who: One lavish lord [livejournal.com profile] fruitbrandy and one adventuring lad [livejournal.com profile] grand_gaia
What: RANDOM ENCOUNTER
Where: A riverbank or something like one
When: Daytime? Whenever.
Warnings: Isaac has a sword.

They were landed. It was a small relief, Isaac thought. He had enough on his mind that day, and he was glad to not to have to worry about Ivan getting trapped behind cargo, or Garet's stomach doing acrobatics, or Mia...

...well, for being a Mercury adept, Mia didn't take too well to sailing.

There was a town a few days walk from where they'd landed the ship. Isaac thought it was nice to actually be on a continent again, as opposed to one of the small islands that dotted the Great Eastern Sea. Garet and Ivan were unloading some supplies to actually get them to town, while Mia was farther in, taking inventory. Isaac had drawn the long straw - he was standing guard against the local wildlife.

Behind him, Garet cursed loudly as he dropped something, prompting Isaac to look behind worriedly. It was a habit he was fast getting into, but wasn't sure if it was a good habit or not - every little sound had been making him start, lately. The distraction almost cost him, for as Isaac turned back to face the wilderness, he saw no less than three wolves had appeared before him. Isaac sighed at his bad luck, unsheathing his sword in one fluid motion, having just enough time to bring it up to block a pouncing beast...

Meanwhile, back at Oxford, Sebastian had detached himself from the company of friends to take a solitary stroll along the river. Solitude certainly wasn't one of his most favoured states of being, but Charles was having one of his (to Sebastian's pleasure) more and more frequent moments of attending lectures, Anthony was only God knew where, and he wasn't quite in the moon to talk to any of his other old Etonian friends. So, after talking it over with Aloysius, he had decided on a solitary walk by the river. He didn't even bring wine.

Perhaps this was how he was in a state to observe the absurdity of a young man (Oh, Sebastian realised, he had met him before! Isaac!) holding out a sword and apparently engaging in battle. Perhaps Isaac was drunk. It was, to Sebastian, a perfectly logical idea.

With that in mind, Sebastian decided to greet Isaac. From a safe distance, of course. "How do you do?"
