Summary: Because people can be sent through worlds at random times, Satoshi basically spends an entire day hopping between assorted worlds.
Warnings: None so far.

...I've known ya for over a year now, Satoshi, we both had to go through my death. An' yet ya still won't let me in.

It's not important. [He doesn't mean the time they've known each other, and her death. That still bothers him. He means something entirely different.]

I want to help. [And she does, really, she wants him to be happy or at least vaguely less repressed. It doesn't seem a nice state to be in.]

[Satoshi shoves his hands into his pockets, because she might be right.] I won't waste my time with things that can't do anything.

It doesn't have to do anythin'; sharin' just makes you feel better [Which, y'know, explains why she hasn't shared her full history with anybody on the Plane. But she can't help being hypocritical, not here.]

[She freezes. Utterly, utterly still]

To barter. [Yes, he's through with pretending it wasn't him.] But that's not the same thing. If telling people your problems... the things that haunt you... the things that make you pretend to be who you aren't... [He remembers what she said, and he looks her in the eyes] If it's so great, then why would you only do it to get something out of me?

[She feels the distinct urge to step back; or even to jump on the curiously watching horse and head for the hills... But instead she stands her ground; tightens her jaw slightly and tries not to look a tiny bit lost.]

...That's different, I would die if I acted like I was brought up.

[Satoshi won't give ground now. She's not the only one with her life on the line.] We keep secrets because we have to. And even if it hurts, if it's our choice, it's all right. You are . . . free to ask whatever you want from me. But it's my choice if I answer.

[She considers this... And realizes, quite frankly, that he's right. That if she won't share freely then she cannot expect more from him. And that they both obviously have secrets that they want to keep.]

[Pause] ...You are also free to ask what you want from me; I am willing to tell you.

[There's silence for a moment as he looks at her. And then he nods.] All right. I want to know what you were going to say that day, in the forest.

[Her shoulders lower slightly] As opposed to...

[And she sighs, stands a bit straighter again and returns to only a faint sort of accent.] People will judge you differently.
