Characters: The Tenth Doctor (d6) and a Computer
Location: Unknown
Time: On a random screen, but when it was recorded, well...who knows. Are you there to watch or not? Hmmm...
Summary: A heavy-hearted choice.

[A screen somewhere on the Plane comes on, flickering between images of the Doctor staring at a computer screen. The keyboard lacks buttons; however, there is a microphone waiting almost patiently for a spoken reply to the question on the monitor:]

In the end, everyone has a price. What is your price, The Doctor?

[The Doctor doesn't answer for a long time. Frankly, he's a bit put out after everything that's happened since the last time he was there. Eventually, though, he does speak, wagging a reproachful finger at the screen since, well, that's the only thing he can scold.]

You know, I'm almost insulted that someone out there thinks I can be bought--if, in fact, that's what this is really asking. [He taps the screen.] For all I know, the question could be asking what I'm willing to sacrifice in order to achieve something. Don't think I'm going to forget that little trick with the truth or lies choice!

But I'm going to bet it's the former. You're probably trying to bribe me, trying to curry favour for what's been done, like those eggs we received from the Twins. I'm more concerned what the price is for me giving a price. How what I say will be twisted around this time.

Of course, this could be a part of the bigger plan going on behind the scenes. Oh yes, I've learnt about it, and I intend on stopping it. [He leans forward, holding the microphone right up to his mouth] I hope you're hearing this!

[He falls silent, sitting back in the chair, and waits for something to happen--but when nothing does, he rolls his eyes] Oh, come on! You really want me to name a price?! Fine. Not that I think you'll be able to do it. I can't even do it!

[A pause] I'd like my people back, but not as they were nor what they became during the war--and the Daleks can stay within the Time Lock. That's...that's the best thing for the universe, and perhaps the same thing won't happen again if the Daleks aren't there. And I won't be alone. [He looks away, suddenly ashamed of he's said.]
