[So Quick Bright Things Come to Confusion]

Characters: Drusilla ([livejournal.com profile] a_pretty_fire) and Juni ([livejournal.com profile] swanseer)
Time: After This
Location: The Theatre
Summary: Although Drusilla's favourite theatre trips usually involve dancing girls in beautiful dresses, she has decided to let Juni give her a tour. At least she'll get to spend some time with her sweet little swan bird.
Warnings: I think 'Drusilla' is enough of a warning in itself. Vampirism and insanity, at the very least. And femslash?

Theatres were filled with shadows. The actors left ghosts behind every time they played a new part and stepped in and out of someone else's skin. Drusilla could hear them whispering as she made away across the empty stage. All those forgotten characters. As soon as they'd said their lines and taken their bows, the audience just dismissed them. How rude.

Puck, Ophelia and Hamlet, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra, Macbeth. They were all crying out for vengeance and acknowledgment, but their lips had no sound left. They were hollow.

The girls had been played by boys, once. That's what Daddy had said. Long ago, but not too long. Longer than Drusilla could remember. Would she have had to play a boy instead, if they were stealing her clothes? She'd have a made a good Hamlet. She'd learned to pretend to be mad a long time ago. Keep them guessing. Never let them see the real face in the mirror. (She didn't get to see it. Why should they?)

Mama had read Shakespeare to her. Not Hamlet, though. Murder and suicide weren't suitable subjects for a good little Catholic girl. Even a good little Catholic girl with the devil's mark on her brow.

Strange, really. Telling her about fairies had been even more foolish. It opened the door for the pixies, before Mama and Drusilla had even realised there was a lock.

"So quick bright things come to confusion," she murmured with a laugh. Her bare feet left prints in the dust, and she twirled in a wide circle before stopping and facing Juni with a wide smile on her face. "It's beautiful."

Femslash is fine by me! :D

Juni followed Drusilla, absently tucking a stray hair behind her ear and still smirking, even after the walk to the theatre and the process of getting in and up onto the stage... It was worth it though, it was more private in these sort of places and fewer chances of interruption made Juni a happy girl.

Well, Drusilla had that effect on her in general, odd that.

She had been to theatres as a girl, Shakespeare mostly (Those that her mother thought "suitable" for a young lady) but a few other plays, it had been wonderful to watch, all the stories and imagination brought to vivid life, almost like the visions.

As such at Drusilla's comment she nodded enthusiastically "The theatre? It is a lovely place, very private."

Although dusty, it was getting all over her feet... Ah well, better that then blood.

Of course, it's them! XD

Juni tilted her head at the symbol and smiled slightly, absently tracing her own circle on the ground, it was nothing compared to Dru's but it was hardly a competition, there was never competition between them... Or at least there hadn't been yet, somehow she doubted that there would be.

"Not really, I've only been here once or twice..." Juni raised a automatic hand to her face and blushed slightly, her real body was... Best not thought about "I've never acted I'm afraid, except in games."

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They were almost the same really, both saw the shards of the future, both had to fight... It was a pity they had not been born in the same uiverse really, had they been they would have definitely been sisters, or mother and daughter... They would've been something and neither of them would've ever been lonely or doubtful, they'd have had each other.

Ah well, at least they were together now.

"It's a good place for a lot of games" Juni smiled, tilting her head up to try and gaze and the ceiling "a nice secret place."

Juni hadn't really thought about becoming a vampire, if was one of those things that she tended to shove deep inside her mind and not contemplate... On one hand it meant that she could stay with Drusilla for as long as she wished (it said a lot for her when her happiest relationship was with a insane vampire) on the other hand it meant... Well, the loss of the last few things that made her human.

...She definitely didn't like thinking about it.

Juni chuckled and started moving towards Drusilla, letting a rather mischievous expression settle on her face "I don't mind, what do you want to play?"

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Juni fully acknowledged that she was probably also a wicked things, but... It was complex, on some levels she was perfectly fine with it, on some levels she was disgusted with herself, On some levels there were things that were very firmly ignored... She knew that she was probably most normal peoples definition of bad, that didn't mean that she was absolutely comfortable with it.

That would probably be one of the benefits of becoming a vampire, none of this constant conflict about doing things.

"I liked that when I was young, I think I should still like it... Who should hide?"

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not a lamb Drusilla" Juni corrected absently as turned and slipped away into the wings "I'm a swan; the lambs are nowhere near as unique."

Or at least they weren't when she had been a child, she doubted that they had changed much judging by the amused lecture she had received when she had asked Loss about the Grady’s, in his opinion the lambs were worth even less then the average Grady and she was actually inclined to agree with him on that point.

Anyway, hiding... Was there really any point in trying to hide herself properly? Drusilla would probably find her easily, she was good at losing people but she had never tried it with vampires before, Drusilla could probably definitely find her with ease.

...Unless she used magic of course, even though that was definitely not ethical... Though she had hardly survived on ethics anyway, ah choices, overthinking a game of hide and seek was probably another thing to add to her list of problems, it was a very long list.

She slipped into a tiny alcove in the wall and started to wait, there was always next time to use magic after all.

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Now Juni would love Drusilla to meet the lambs, with their stupid ideas about science and genetics… The lambs couldn’t just accept magic as fact, they had to analyse everything from a scientific viewpoint and in that they were starting to lose their true purpose… Or at least that was what her father had told her, daddy had never approved of the lambs, most people from her family hadn’t.

Of course, times had probably changed… Though she didn’t think that it’d changed that much, those descended from Bartholomew knew how to hold a grudge after all.

Juni smirked slightly at the air and settled herself deeper into the alcove, slinking back into the shadows and waiting… There was no possibility of Drusilla not finding her really, even if she used magic to turn invisible or something Drusilla would still know that she was in the general area… She suspected that winning at hide and seek with vampires was about as possible as winning a eating contest against demons.

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Magic was much more powerful than science anyway, with most science it took ages to get anything done while with magic a flick of the wrist could change the universe in seconds… Juni was quite happy with having no knowledge of the process; all she knew was that it probably wasn’t up to genes.

The truth was that most humans were capable of magic, but few of them were ever called on to use it and when faced with the true use of such magic most refused to acknowledge it, magic wasn’t really down to genes and Juni held the opinion that the lambs were fools for thinking anything of the sort.

Juni was still smirking at the air when Drusilla touched her, to her credit she didn’t jump into the ceiling or scream but instead just started slightly and turned around to face her “That was fast.”

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
As Drusilla hand moved down her arm Juni's smirk softened just slightly and she gave the hand in hers a slight squeeze as soon as they were touching "much swifter than any of my demons, most definitely."

She had checked after all, there was nothing so wonderful as running down a corridor at full speed to check how fast most demons could run... Most of them were extremely fast but Drusilla was still faster and had a much better way of finding her (ripping up entire rooms just to get to one little human did rather lack tact.)

People had existed without worrying about science for many years, magic was far more useful anyway, science couldn't keep you alive against demons.

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose I would" Juni smiled softly, nodding "and I'd make them listen to me occasionally too... But I certainly don't have the skill to create demons."

Only the demon masters could create life out of nothing, and even then the process had a high chance of going very wrong... She had nowhere near that power, she would have loved it but her power manifested in stupid visions that she couldn't control.

The universe had a twisted sense of humour.

Juni paused for a second and then looked back over her shoulder "...We can't really run in here."

[identity profile] swanseer.livejournal.com 2009-04-01 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unfortunately my blood does not have such power" Juni murmured softly, absently inspecting the skin of her wrists where the veins were... Her blood had some inherited magic from Bartholomew and some lovely hangovers from her distant demon ancestors, she doubted that either of those could turn demons into her slaves.

Juni smiled slightly and nodded slightly... Maybe, maybe one day.

"Well, we'd crash into things, unless we were very careful."
