Next time they can take Peony on the roadtrip too
Characters: Guy Cecil (
guyexplains) and Jade Curtiss (
fonicartestry)
Location:CAMPFIRE SCENE The road between Port Belkend and Belkend, Auldrant
Time: NIGHT? During the manly roadtrip of... manly bonding?
Summary: Guy is not dealing as well with the Plane and all the implications thereof as he pretends. This is why he needs a bro to set him straight. ~Heart to hearts~ by the campfire are clearly called for.
Warnings: Jade. Jade is a warning. Severe Jadeness.
They were just past the river on the way to Belkend--they'd make it to the city early tomorrow. For the night, Jade and Guy had set up camp off the road. Guy cooked, and cleaned up after, leaving Jade to his own devices with little need for actual conversation. Guy had a lot on his mind anyway, and the simple tasks were comforting in a way. Things to keep his hands busy and his attention focused even when his mind was wandering.
It was probably a painfully apparent that he was distracted, agitated over something, by the way he prowled the camp for things to do after dinner. Stoked the fire, checked his sword for nicks or scratches--there were none of course--rechecked their belongings were secure, and finally ended up stoking the fire again, poking at embers with a stick while glaring at the flames.
After a while he gave up and tossed the stick into the fire as well, rested his hands on his knees and stared at nothing in particular. He wasn't dazed, he was still very alert to his surroundings, but in a vacant way--attention left on reflex rather than awareness.
