Those words shocked him momentarily. What did that mean? Why was he needed? Maybe it was in a different context than, say, needing a friend. But it felt like it. He realized that he had to stop running from his problems for a moment because the Doctor was running, too, and he'd always catch up. That scared him. Having to confront what might be the end of everything he knew (and was forgetting). So Emil looked up at the Doctor for reassurance... and he found it.
Emil pressed the button and braced himself.
On the screen, a blonde boy with green eyes adjusts his hair and tries to think of what to say while staring into the camera. He has a small smile on his face, a very sweet one, but also very thoughtful. He's wearing a tank top that looks very familiar to Emil, but he doesn't say that, nor does he remark on the star-shaped birthmark sitting on the boy's collarbone.
"He looks... just like me..."
It was like some kind of creepy dream, but the blood pounding in Emil's ears told him that what he saw was absolutely real.
