It was like this was the evening (or not-evening for her, he guessed) was being catered towards questions he couldn't quite answer. There was the possibility that people on the Plane were just fine. He could tell them that he was actually in charge of the time-stream and making sure that people didn't mess it up. But there were pretty severe consequences to doing so, and Booster didn't want to take his chances, especially not now that their realities were seeming to come together.
Instead, Booster just shrugged and grinned sheepishly, keeping his easier act of a total buffoon, "Man, that's flattery. I don't really take care of it. I just help him out sometimes. Mostly he can do it himself, but Rip can't take angry peasants, and I can. I can just fly away, you know? Not that it's the best thing to do, because of the whole 'witch hunt' thing, but...Well, I make do. I figure not getting a pitchfork in my ass is better than some guy being traumatized forever because he thinks he saw a devil, or something."
Deflecting wasn't really working for her, but he would damn well keep trying. The more she asked, the more of an ass he would have to be to make sure she didn't find out. "Common? I dunno about that. Well, I'd heard of mergers, but I was under the impression that you had to a) like the other person and they like you, so I think we're not good on one of those parts, and b) that they actually...came together. So we'd be seeing the same thing. But don't worry, it's not like sharing a reality with me would be that bad, would it? I promise to get rid of any of the weird super villains that might wander in."
