( this is going to seem like something that's come completely out of nowhere, but the fact of the matter is that york has had this on his mind, had it in the works for quite some time now.
it's been something that he's spent all of his free time on back on the mother of invention; something that is so important to him that he can't risk anyone coming up on what he's doing on the plane. ( what does that say, hm? ) granted, it would seem harmless and inconsequential should anyone find him, but he doesn't really want to answer any questions, and what's a guy without a couple of secrets, anyway?
now, he just needs to figure out the right time to set his plan into motion, aaand … oh. it's raining.
on the plane?
huh.
it strikes him as odd, of course it does, but then again there had just been snow on the ground, so if this place is going to start having inclement weather, there isn't a whole lot he can do about it. he might think about what this means later, but for the moment, whatever brought this weather about, he needs to either buy it a drink or something, because it's provided him with the perfect setup for what he has planned.
there's a quick moment in which he drops back to the ship, and on his return he makes his way toward the bath house and the room he knows jacqli has claimed for her own. in his hand is something inconspicuous, just one of the puzzles he's had a habit of carrying around with him since he was a kid, even if this one in particular had given him a fair bit of trouble when he'd first acquired it.
… okay. so it had given him a lot of trouble, and he's only solved it once because he can't be bothered to give it a second try just because he's still mad at it. doesn't matter that he's since taken it apart completely, laid every piece out within view and put it back together – perhaps even modified it so that it can house something at its center, but this one will never tell if that's true or not – it's still the bane of his existence.
which would raise the question of just why he's about to give this abomination to his girlfriend.
he has the intention of leaving it on her pillow if she isn't around, but if she is actually in her room when he finally gets there, he'll simply toss it at her with a grin and an off-hand it's raining, have a puzzle.
make little sense? maybe. but then again, look who you're talking to here. )
